Jazz lovers are you here? I have some fun news for you.
Or should I say, we have some fun news for you as today our French special guest is back… ma maman!
Last week we told you our Vienne was Roman and shared some cool info about one Roman monument: the Temple.
Today we have a great story about another Roman monument that brings thousands of international Jazz lovers to Vienne every single summer.
Vous êtes prêts?
The théâtre antique was built by the Romans between the years 40 and 50. That’s almost 2000 years ago. It’s still there and in constant use. Singers, musicians, comedians, come to play not only for locals.
Since 1981 every July, the théâtre antique welcomes le Jazz à Vienne. It’s an international Jazz festival that attracts the best musicians from all over the world.
It’s considered one of the top Europeans Jazz festivals! Not bad for a 30,000 inhabitant little city, right? Here is a picture of le Théâtre Antique in the middle of a Jazz concert:
Vienne is where I was born and where my mom lives, it’s very rich in culture, charming, and only 20 minutes away from Lyon.
That’s why we take you to Vienne on our trips Lyon and its surroundings! We are even planning a regional picnic at my mom’s place!
Here are some more pictures of Vienne, what do you think?
And if you want to see more just google Vienne Isère France!
Isère is the département. There is another area in France called Vienne on the west coast so it’s important not to get mixed up between the 2!
